Trigger
Backup heat is not autoomatically started by the Air/Liquid to Water Heat Pump. Backup heat is required when either heating demand exceeds actual capacity of the heat pump (both air and liquid source), or outdoor temperature is below the minium operation temperatrue of the heat pump (Air source only).
Procedure
There are two (2) prerequisites for the backup heat to be automatically authorised/started by the heat pump: First heat pump ambient temperature switch needs to be enabled and sSecond Backup heat outdoor temperature setpoint needs to be specifed.
Enabling Ambient Temperature Switch
Go to user mask (M04) and press Enter
Go to U10 (AmbTemp Switch)
by default the Enable Switch is disabled. Enable it and click enter and Escape.
Navigate to U07 (Heater Control)
"Ext. temp. setp." is the outdoor temperature setpoint at which the backup heat is enabled. When the outdoor temperature read by the ambient temperatrue switch is less or equal than "Ext. temp. setp." Backup heater (Boiler, etc...) is authorized to start.
"Comp.delay" is a delay setpoint to allow heat pump sometimes to satisfy the heating demand. If heating demand is not satified after the number of minutes sepcified in "Comp.delay", the dry contact for related to backup heat will close/or open (depending on how it's configured in the advanced settings of the heat pump). By default Backup Heat Dry Contacts are NO and they close when the two (2) above conditions are met.
Also for the bakup heat to wotk, the Dry Contacts need to be properly wired to the control board of the backup heat
